Men’s basketball is not the only team in UK Athletics to travel overseas this summer. The UK Volleyball team left this morning to embark on a 14-day trip to China. While there the girls will experience three main elements of education, cultural experience and competition.

The trip is funded through staff and player donation along with revenue from campus donations, the coaches’ clinic and private contributions. All of this will help the girls travel to Shanghai, NanJing and Beijing.
The Cats will be studying at Shanghai University, learning about Chinese cultural and giving back to the community. Traveling with the team is Andrew Maske, an art history professor who specialized in the arts of Asia. Maske has been spending time with the team teaching them about Chinese cultural and philosophy. It is not all about the education though. The team will also play six matches over the course of two weeks against some of the top volleyball teams in the world.
