Kentucky offers three-star forward out of North Carolina

There is a new name in the mix for Kentucky’s 2015 recruiting class after John Calipari extended a scholarship offer to Shaun Kirk, a three-star forward, last night.

Kirk committed to N.C. State on Monday before hearing from Calipari by Monday evening. According to Evan Daniels at Scout.com, “He intends to explore that option.”

A 6-foot-7 athletic forward, Kirk had offers from Auburn, East Carolina, VCU and Wake Forest. He did not sign any paperwork after committing to N.C. State.

He may turn out to be great, but sorry if it kind of reminds me of…

Don’t forget Matt just tweeted out that link a while back and specifically said to “pay attention to the comments”.

Is it frowned upon to offer someone who’s given an oral commitment to go elsewhere?

I would rather give more minutes to Willis and Hawkins than sign this guy.

How dare we have more than 7 scholarship players!

Right now we only have 9 players for next season. That’s not even enough to scrimmage 5 on 5 in practice.

If we don’t have enough players to scrimmage, then we need to bring in some KY players who can walk-on and save the scholly for next year. I’ve seen this kid play and while he is quite athletic, he is no where near good enough to contribute. He is basically EJ Floreal!
