Kentucky lands star linebacker from Ohio

The University of Kentucky landed a big 4th of July Yahtzee with the commitment of Xavier Peters, a four-star outside linebacker out of Ohio.

Peters announced his commitment to the Wildcats via Twitter:

Ranked eighth at his position and No. 129 overall in his class, Peters picked Kentucky over offers from Alabama, USC, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Oregon, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina, West Virginia, Wisconsin and many more.

This is an enormous pull by Mark Stoops, Vince Marrow and the UK staff.

Super. I am sure other schools will continue recruiting
him. We need to keep recruiting him too.

Well, that didn’t take long for him to de-commit. I believe that Jarren Williams probably pressured him at “The Opening” and had a family member or coach remind him that he had a bunch of visits still to take. Don’t completely count us out yet but these kind of players come much easier when the dubs come more frequently..Stoops and Marrow continue to impress on the recruiting trail..Go Cat’s #BBN

There is a long list of 4 stars remaining with KY in their final 5 or 10 lists and momentum is in BBN’s favor! Hope we land Blue Smith too!!

Based on his other offers, this one’s going to stick. If you already pulled an offer from Bama and you STILL want to come to Kentucky, you’re serious

One more good year and we will be getting more of these. Nothing better for a recruit than a proven up and coming program with a star coach in the making.

So does this commitment put us in the top 15 for best recruiting class?? It seems like every other day I’m on KSR and the football program has landed another 3-4 star guy. Can not say enough about the coaching staff and a BIG shout out to Vince Marrow. He keeps this up and he will be our “Calapari” for the football recruiting! Lol. #stoopstroops #BBN #cantwaitforsept2

I did my research after my post. Probably need a few more to make the top 15. But Blue Smith would certainly make us closer.

They are now #15 in 247. It just hasn’t updated.

Actually the Cats have currently climbed quite nicely in the the team rankings for both Scout (14th ) and Rivals (15th). They are listed at 20th on ESPN (but they haven’t added Peters yet) and 21st in the 247 composite rankings.

I left out the Cats are also 14th on the 247 team ranking, so they should climb significantly in the team composite once ESPN updates their ranking to include Peters among UK commits as he is highly ranked among LBs per ESPN.

We have the inside track to a couple of more 4 stars and Williams is likely to gain a 5th star after his performance at The Opening where he was ranked the #5 QB nationally. This puts us in strong position to finish top 20 which would be a school record, again!

These coaches are putting in work!
