Even while he’s in Jamaica for his birthday and honeymoon, Jack Pilgrim brings the scoop.

This morning, our basketball recruiting insider shared this interesting tidbit about a new name on the scene in the 2022 class. A source tells Jack that the Kentucky coaching staff is in constant contact with Hawaiian center Sage Tolentino, who plays for Maryknoll High School in Honolulu. At age 16, Tolentino already stands at 7’1″ and reportedly speaks to UK Associate Head Coach Kenny Payne “daily.” Jack’s source said Auburn is also very interested.

A quick Google search on Tolentino reveals that he is pals with Kai Sotto, the 7’2″ center that visited Kentucky in December before ultimately signing with the G-League. The Sotto and Tolentino families even spent Father’s Day together (Sage is on the right):

The two have talked about teaming up for Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) in the 2023 FIBA World Cup, which will be held in the Philippines, Japan, and Indonesia. That’s one tall frontcourt.

Check out highlights and an interview with Tolentino below:

…and then go wish Jack a very happy birthday on Twitter…which he is hopefully not checking because he’s on a beach in Jamaica for goodness’ sake.

Palming a ball is not a sign of talent!

I wish I’d known this sooner. I sent Cal a video of me palming all the basketballs starts my local Dick’s Sporting Goods. I was wondering why he never responded…

A Sea of Blue James Streble states while he and his family were vacationing in Hawaii he went to see this kid play and is the real deal. Streble stated he went up to the kid while wearing his UK shirt , the kid pulled out some UK gear and gave him the Hawaian okay sign and said he will be in Kentucky soon. Oh boy going to be a monster!.
