The brightest college golfers in America represent the University of Kentucky.
Thursday evening the Golf Coaches Association of America announced the winners of this year’s outstanding academic awards. The Kentucky golf team was named Academic National Champions for finishing with the top GPA in Division I golf. The Wildcats had the top overall GPA among all divisions, finishing the year with a 3.89 team GPA.
Last week seven members of the UK men’s and women’s golf team were selected to the SEC’s First-Year Academic Honor Roll.
The golf team isn’t just doing well in the classroom. Last week Jay Kirchdorfer won the Kentucky Match Play Championship at Nevel Meade Golf Club. At that same event Jacob Cook recorded a hole-in-one. Cook also won the Lexington City Championship and the Daniel Boone Invitational in a playoff at the Frankfort Country Club. Cook celebrated the playoff victory in style.
