Keaten and Destin Wade, Four-Star Twins from Tennessee, Commit to Kentucky

Kentucky went to the Volunteer State to pick up commitments from talented twin brothers.

Surrounded by friends and family at Summit High School just outside of Nashville, Destin Wade and Keaten Wade revealed they will be attending the University of Kentucky, picking the Cats over Tennessee, Louisville and Virginia.

The brothers are each considered four-star, top 300 prospects. Keaten Wade is the 18th-ranked outside linebacker in the country and No. 156 player overall. Destin Wade, a quarterback that accumulated 1,509 rushing yards, 1,390 passing yards and 37 combined touchdowns as a junior, is ranked as the No. 23 ATH in the country by Rivals.

In recent years the Wildcats have had a couple highly contested battles with the Vols on the recruiting trail and this is the biggest win yet for UK. Steve Clinkscale served as the primary recruiter for the Wades. By giving the brothers their first scholarship offer, Coach Clink prevented Josh Heupel’s staff from gaining early momentum on the recruiting trail.

Landing just one of these talented players would be significant. By receiving commitments from the two talented brothers, Kentucky’s seven-man class moved up eight spots to No. 18 in Rivals’ team rankings.

Keaten Wade is an explosive edge defender that will thrive under Brad White’s tutelage. At 6-foot-5, 225-pounds, Keaten can become a difference maker in the SEC at Kentucky. His brother is not as big, but he does have a big arm. Whether in the pocket or on the run, Destin Wade has the tools to to let it rip in Liam Coen’s offense, and his skillset is versatile enough to play wide receiver or defensive back for Mark Stoops.

It’s a great day for the Kentucky Football program that could turn into a great weekend if Kiyaunta Goodwin joins the Wade twins in the Wildcats’ 2022 recruiting class Saturday afternoon.

Hell to the yes. This was my biggest target for the coaching staff. To get 2 players of that caliber at once is huge. I don’t wanna get ahead of myself, but their athleticism on tape really stands out. I don’t know their ceilings but I hope they can develop like some of our former players here. If they can develop physically, the edge rusher could be the next Josh Allen, and I swear the tape on the qb reminds me a lot of Randall Cobb’s high school tape. I hope they have the ceilings to develop that much and have the work ethic to match Josh and Randall’s!

And yes, I’m completely aware that we should be wearing ours on signing day, just in case.

Lmao, yeah Clutch, I remember feeling like I got em stomped in years past when a recruit flipped on signing day. When slick Willie got the one kid to go to FSU it hurt at the time, but he came home so all’s well that ends well I reckon.

I’m guessing the brother that was a QB can get as big as his brother currently is. Excited for the addition to the program.

I think the way they committed means something. Could we lose them if say Saban showed up and let him ride his 4wheeler….sure, but I don’t think that’ll happen.

Gotta give Stoops and Co credit: brick by brick they built it from the ground up. Not easy: not always pretty, but no shortcuts, no cheating, no criminals. Lot to be said for hard work and character and it’s paying off in a quality product year after year. 3 bowl wins in a row – and quality bowls – is pretty remarkable.

Nick: it takes MUCH MORE than a big arm to play QB.

I know Destin was rated as an athlete but I wonder how he would rate as a QB.
