Kash Daniel named Kentucky Gatorade Player of the Year

Congratulations to Kash Daniel, who was named Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year this morning. After bursting onto the recruiting scene this summer, the future Cat pretty much did it all for Painstville in his senior season. Kash tallied 88 solo tackles, 65 assisted tackles and four fumble recoveries this year, leading the Tigers to a 13-1 record and the Class 1A semifinals.
On offense, Daniel completed 73-of-123 passes for 1,319 yards and 15 touchdowns, adding 926 rushing yards and 22 touchdowns on 117 carries. Kash has also been chosen to play in the 2016 U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 9.
Despite UK’s slide, Kash is still #AllIn, hosting Mark Stoops and DJ Eliot earlier this week:

Kash did a lot of great things this season, but this pregame speech and postgame interview are still tops for me:

Let’s hope Kash can replicate those numbers next year at UK or he may get the Matt Elam treatment from our knowledgeable fanbase.
Very good get for the Wildcats!
YATZEE
Kid looks like he will be a beast
it will be interesting to see if he comes in to play this year … transfers laster and love will be eligible, eli brown will play, plus we’ll have jordan jones, josh allen, nico firios and kobie walker … lost a lot of experience with forrest, flannigan and henderson
I blame posts like this for the hype that built us all up this past season. He’s still a senior in high school, I’ll start looking for his name in 2 years after he’s (more than likely) redshirted. Go Cats
I would lay that blame more on Stoops assessment of the 2015 team than posts like this, perhaps also a bit of overestimation of how much impact his first class actually could have…..and the questions about play calling, dropped passes etc that have been discussed to death on ksr. I do think he redshirts, as love, hatcher, brown, and firios/jones/allen, and laster make a very solid group…on paper anyway
I see what you’re saying, but the media way over-hyped this team…and ksr is our media. Still love em though!
this post isn’t over-hyping anybody, it’s just letting us know he won an award … we get a post about our guys (commit or current player) getting awards or being on watch lists for awards … it’s just news … the person reading the post needs to realize that not all highly regarded recruits contribute early if ever and contain your own hype
Im really excited about this kid! Big ole tough mountain boy – really nice to see him on our side!
Former Kentucky star from Paintsville….Joey Couch Part 2
Again folks, tap the breaks.
This is a high school senior. His contributions will be needed, but he will need to have some time to work himself into the system. Defense in the SEC is just one step beneath the NFL. It matters not how he looks playing football against others his age or YOUNGER. He will be playing against experienced players his age, and OLDER, which posses world class speed and with bodies ready to play. I can’t begin to tell you what a tremendous difference SEC football is from SE Kentucky lower level football. I am not belittling his efforts and accomplishments, or those he competed against, just trying to keep things in perspective here.
He is a great addition, a real jewel for HFCMS, but he will be a freshman too.
But we are saying the same thing…this is a senior in high school playing against 14-18 year old boys, not 18-23 year old men. He’s going to need time and experience; which is good since he’s coming here so he can have ample chances at both of those.
You heard it here first. This kid will be the second coming of Brian Bosworth on the field. Dude is a stud and has the mental edge to be an elite player not only in the SEC, but also in football as a whole
Hopefully the Oklahoma boz not the getting plowed by Bo Jackson boz. Probably redshirts next yr though…lb looks pretty deep
I just hope the expectations for Kash aren’t set way to high. He can obviously play and some serious college football teams wanted him as part of their class. BluKudzu you are absolutely correct, SEC football is a HUGE step up from the level he’s been playing at. Faster, stronger, better coached, and of course in some cases, men against boys. I hope he doesn’t get pushed to fast.

Blame yourself, not me.
Kash can make an impact on the field, but if he can infect the locker room with the attitude he displayed in those two videos, then that will be even more valuable than duplicating his HS statline. He’s a tough guy, and he can help our team grow some much needed gonads.
I say we go after Daric Pugh from Pikeville as well. That kid doesn’t run around people he runs over them. Pugh and Kash won’t ever quit on the Cats.
We need more guys like that. Guys who won’t be getting pedis anytime soon. Remember the guy we used to have who noodled catfish in his spare time? Kash seems to be in that mold.
Let’s just fill the whole roster with good ol boys from the mountains of Eastern Kentucky. The type that prefer noodling for catfish on their spare time. That’s what will make us competitive in the SEC!
On the bright side, he apparently will be enrolling early, in January, so he will get the experience of spring camp prior to the season beginning in the fall. As a fellow Paintsville resident, I hope he does very well!
