John Petty will not visit Kentucky this weekend
Five-star shooting guard John Petty was scheduled to take an official visit to Lexington this weekend, but according to Jeff Borzello, that’s not happening anymore. Borzello reports that Petty has canceled his visit, but plans to reschedule. By my count, that’s the second time he’s done that in the past month.

Petty is down to Kentucky and Alabama and Borzello says he will sign during the early signing period, which begins on November 9. Kentucky still leads his 247 Sports Crystal Ball with 79% of the predictions to Alabama’s 21%.

What is Avery Johnson saying to these kids that he’s getting so much attention from the top flight players every year?
meh. i wouldnt worry too much about it. kids have crazy lives. no telling what prompted the cancellations/rescheduling. maybe he had something in his personal life come up.
Until he *does* or *doesn’t* pick up a UK hat when he announces, i’m not too worried about reading tea leaves.
Hopefully Petty has some sense and doesn’t Malik Newman himself.
Avery flat out says he does use his pro coaching and playing experience in recruiting, including the championship(s) won as a player. I guess it appeals to sme kids.
Hope we get him. We’re going to need at least 3-4 guards in this recruiting class. Miss out on Petty, and the shooting guard options are getting slim. Assuming Young is our point (which I know is not a given either), Walker is the only other elite guard I think we have a shot to get at this point. I don’t think Green and Diallo are even options. I trust Cal, but it’s kind of concerning.
He’s either playing hard to get or worried he’ll get no play.
