As expected, John Petty will stay close to home to play for the Avery Johnson’s Alabama Crimson Tide. Ranked as the No. 5 shooting guard in the 2017 class, John Calipari once led for the Huntsville native, but the persistent Avery Johnson could not let Petty leave the state.
Moving forward, Kentucky should land their first 2017 backcourt player when Shai Alexander announces on Monday. The Cats are also in good shape with shooting guard Lonnie Walker, who visited campus last weekend, and Hamidou Diallo, the class’ No. 1 shooting guard who will decide in the spring.
