John Calipari Has a New Mission

We all know Cal was out recruiting this week, spending a lot of time at the Peach Jam. But, did you know he also came up with his next mission? Agent Cal 007 apparently wants to take on how fouls are called on shooters. Specifically he wants an automatic foul if the shooter is touched before his feet touch the ground. Cal believes this will help improve scoring and has taken it upon himself to get this done.

Don’t believe me. From the man himself:

One concern about how zebras would interpret the new no-touch rule. What if shooter jumps forward – is the rule of verticality still OK?

I foresee many a shooter extending his feet or arms to create contact when a defender has simply stayed within his own cylinder of vertcality.

I am not against better protecting the shooter – but it could get out of had a bit. 🙂
