Herman came into the day with a one-stroke lead on Kelly Kraft, and it went neck and neck all afternoon. With two holes to go, both golfers were tied at 26-under.
After two shots down the fairway on 17, Herman was hit into the bunker, while Kraft hit it on the green – setting up a long putt that was for sure to be a two-putt. However, Herman chipped it on and tapped it in for par, while Kraft’s putt for par rimmed out, which resulted in a three-putt and a bogey which gave Herman a one-stroke lead heading to 18.
Both golfers would par on 18 and Herman would pick up his second tour victory in his career. He took the Houston Open back in 2016.
For the Kentucky guys, Josh Teater finished sixth at 21-under, Chip McDaniel finished 68th at two-under, and Cullan Brown, a freshman at UK, finished 53rd at 10-under. Brown will not be able to receive any winnings, due to his amateur status forced by the NCAA.
JT Poston, who was caddied by former KSR writer Aaron Fleener, finished 29th at 14-under.
Congrats to Jim Herman on winning the 2019 Barbasol Championship.
