Jemarl Baker considering nine schools

jemarl-baker

Former UC Berkeley signee Jemarl Baker opted out of his Letter of Intent to the Bears after Cuonzo Martin’s departure and he has re-opened his recruitment to all comers.

Today, Baker’s new list of potential schools was released to the world through his AAU coach and it includes nine programs from all over college basketball.

Kentucky is one of the nine, along with Duke, Utah, Arizona, Marquette, Maryland, Oregon, Arizona State and San Diego State, per his coach:

John Calipari plans to visit Baker at some point this week to gauge his interest on becoming a Kentucky Wildcat. There are plenty of spots available in the UK backcourt after the Cats lose De’Aaron Fox, Malik Monk, Dominique Hawkins, Mychal Mulder and likely Isaiah Briscoe.

Based on what I’ve seen on video only, I would lean toward the Smith kid from Illinois over either of the other 2 kids that have been mentioned.

Do we have any KY kids that can play and be effective in a couple years? If we are looking to fill a roster then why not fill it with local not one and done prospects?

Because there is no one in state who is good enough.

Did people really consider Hawkins and Willis really good enough 4 years ago?

BLUECAT Wants to go to the final 8 once every 10 years instead of almost every year.

Cant even inquire about any in state prospects? Secrick just made my point. If we want to go to final four we can’t do it with ky kids. People said Darius Miller couldn’t play there either.

Miller was good enough. Hawkins and Willis were good enough. No current high school players are. We don’t need to take a Kentucky kid just to take a Kentucky kid.

Plenty of good Minnesota kids…Cal should be able to out-recruit Lil Richie!

I will say that both Hawkins and Willis were not ranked in ESPN top 100 and both were considered 3 stars players.
