Jefferson County Public Schools will allow football teams to participate in playoffs

Jefferson County remains in the COVID-19 red zone, but for its football teams, the playoffs will go on.

This morning, Jefferson County Public Schools announced that for now, its high school football teams will be allowed to compete in the KHSAA playoffs, which begin next week. Games will not take place this weekend. Winter sports can practice in small groups.

Here is email sent out to JCPS families:

JCPS football teams have not been allowed to play the last two weeks as cases have surged in Louisville. According to yesterday’s report, Jefferson County’s incidence rate is 41.3 average daily cases per 100,000 residents. Eighty of Kentucky’s 120 counties are currently in the red zone, or 25 or more average daily cases per 100,000 residents.
