Jeff Borzello Says Cats are ‘In the Driver’s Seat’ for Ulis and Booker

Mr. Booker.

Mr. Booker.

Mr. Booker.

Mr. Ulis

Mr. Ulis

The alumni weekend has proved to be a pivotal recruiting weekend for Coach Cal in the past. This year’s NBA-clad weekend will be just as important, especially for Guards Devin Booker and Tyler Ulis. The recently offered Ulis is essentially choosing between Michigan State and UK- visiting each team in a short amount of time this weekend. Ulis is expected to decide in the next couple of weeks, but ESPN’s 16th ranked player Devin Booker still has a handful of schools to visit. I doubt any other school can pull 15 NBA players out of a hat like Coach Cal. Here’s a little of what Borzello had to say about the tandem.

“Ulis visited Iowa last weekend, and the Spartans and Wildcats are the only other schools on his list. A decision is likely coming in the next couple of weeks — and this weekend’s trips could be major factors. Kentucky is gaining serious momentum since offering. As for Booker, he still has visits to Florida, Michigan and Missouri after these two. The Wildcats could be in the driver’s seat for this one, too.”

It all sounds good to me Jeff.

No, Nick. He says that UK “could” be in the driver’s seat for them. Important word you left out of your title.

Correct Bob. Strange to leave “could” out. I’m sure that was accidental lol. Here’s what it said:
Ulis, Booker head to Michigan State and Kentucky
Michigan State has its alumni weekend this weekend, while Kentucky has its alumni game on Monday. Tyler Ulis and Devin Booker will be in attendance at each spot. Ulis visited Iowa last weekend, and the Spartans and Wildcats are the only other schools on his list. A decision is likely coming in the next couple of weeks — and this weekend’s trips could be major factors. Kentucky is gaining serious momentum since offering. As for Booker, he still has visits to Florida, Michigan and Missouri after these two. The Wildcats could be in the driver’s seat for this one, too. One interesting thing to keep an eye on is family ties: Ulis’ cousin, Travis Walton, played at Michigan State, while Booker’s father played at Missouri.

We need more than these two…Stanley Johnson should be our top target. I dont think either one of these guys are one and done and neither is Blackman. Unless one Aaron Harrison stays I think we still need an elite wing like Vaughn or Kelly Oubre because of their defensive potential plus Vaughn can play some one. If Lee and Johnson return along with the addition of Towns we should be fine upfront.

I think Blackmon and Booker if UK gets them, Blackmon turn to PG and Booker at the 2 guard… It worked before for Cal with Tyreke Evans and Archie played some PG while he was listed as SG… Ulis will be back up if he decides to come to UK…

#6 people like yourself thank you know more about basketball then Calipari, do you really think that he would be recruiting Ulis if he wasn’t going to be good enough to run the point. So bad in fact that we should train a shooting guard for that spot and use Ulis to bring water, this stuff if not making me laugh makes me sick. no wonder basketball fans as a whole think Kentucky fans are idiots.

When using Firefox, the number doesn’t show up beside the comment. Any change of getting fix on that?

Tyler Ulis is underestimated by many. Sad. And thats an understatement. Playing against Tyus Jones he puts up 22pts and 17 assists. Can’t teach size but can’t teach his level of speed either.

Dont get me wrong, these are quality players but we will not be good if they are our starting backcourt in 2014. not NIT bad, but certainly not a title contender. Then they would be recruited over in 2015. I still think Mudiay will decide to come to UK or Tyus Jones — dont care what Matt thinks , the best choose UK we do not want Ulis right now, maybe if no one else signs.

bigcatstanding, whoa whoa whoa there killer! Nothing was every said I knew more bout basketball then Coach Cal. Let me break it down for you real quick, Cal is recruiting higher ranked guards and I am pretty that might be his main guy at that position read the facts. Second of all he recruits a lot of guards and Im sure he needs him as a back up and never under estimating the kid for one second! He could very well be great… Third of all you do not know me so don’t call me an idiot you peon. Slow down there little guy have another beer and go to sleep! BOOM you have been lawyered 😉

Do we really covet a 5’8″ point guard? He’s good now because most high school kids suck. Remember the last one we wanted? Went to fl and lets face it wasn’t that great and made us all feel better for not picking UK. Guys at this level will make mediocre at best. Just one mans opinion.

Ulis is legit and will come to UK!! Booker is amazing and will commit to UK! So will Blackmon Jr, and Johnson. Maybe Lyles. Probably Lyles. Already got Towns!
