Former Kentucky wide receiver Jeff Badet has been promoted to the Washington Football Team’s active roster.

Badet, who has been a part of Washington’s practice squad since Sept. 17, and his agent announced the news this afternoon.

“Congratulations [Jeff Badet] on signing to the [Washington] active roster!” the wideout’s agent, Will Sarubbi, wrote on Twitter.

“Thank you God,” Badet added.

Badet, 26, played football at Kentucky from 2013-2016 before transferring to Oklahoma to finish his collegiate career in 2017. After going undrafted, the 5-foot-11 receiver was signed by the Minnesota Vikings as a free agent in 2018.

Most recently, Badet played for the XFL’s Dallas Renegades, who selected the former Wildcat with the fourth overall pick in the 2020 XFL Draft.

In three seasons at Kentucky, Badet managed 1385 total receiving yards and seven touchdowns on 82 receptions, including a 670-yard, four-touchdown campaign in year three.

In his final year of eligibility at Oklahoma, Badet finished with 400 receiving yards and three touchdowns on 26 receptions alongside Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Baker Mayfield.

After the XFL suspended operations back in April, Badet had tryouts with the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers in August before finding his new home in Washington.

Badet was elevated to Washington’s 53-man roster this past weekend against the New York Giants, though he did not accumulate any stats. He also played three snaps during the team’s 24-3 win over the Dallas Cowboys back in Week 7, again finishing with zero targets or receptions.

Signed on for the remainder of the season, the former Wildcat will have the opportunity to pick up his first catches of his young NFL career.

While we wait for Badet’s return to the field next weekend against the Detroit Lions at 1 p.m. ET, check out the highlights from his time at Kentucky:

I’m confused. This is the second article about a guy who dumped UK for another school. Seems odd to me.

You just saw Badet is a wildcat for sure just had an opportunity his last yr to play at Oklahoma a better football school. It’s opportunity. Think he didn’t need to go and he still would have been drafted but I don’t blame him. People should be happy for this young man .

Imagine seeing this picture/headline this time last year. “Why is he wearing a mask, especially if he is by himself? What is the Washington Football Team?”
All this is missing from making it completely 2020 is him wearing a Black Lives Matter shirt.

It’s possible to not be mad at him, while also not being all that happy for him and just really not care about it. That’s where I’m at.

None of us had a problem with the bball transfers we got this year, did we? And the difference between Badet and Juzang is Jeff played for 3 years at UK.

Congrats to Jeff for signing with the Washington Aughts.
