Jaylen Brown is a consensus Top 10 player in America as the second-best small forward, but those ratings don’t compare to an offer from the University of Kentucky. After dropping 48 points Friday night at the Adidas Gauntlet event in Indianapolis, he caught up with some of our favorite media members.
“What’s not to like about Kentucky?” Brown said, “The way they turn freshman into veterans in a matter of months, it’s great.”
Brown received his UK offer a couple of weeks ago, calling it a milestone in his recruitment process that was very humbling. He speaks with Coach Cal at least once a week, who likes to compare him to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. Kenny Payne is his primary recruiter. A few weeks back, Payne paid Brown a visit on Easter Sunday, leaving a big impression, “It meant a lot, because I know he probably had a lot of things to do. On Easter Sunday he could’ve been with his family, but he came down to show love to me and my family.”
The Marietta, Ga. native has received a lot of attention from Georgia and Georgia Tech, but the 247 Crystal Ball currently gives Kentucky an edge with 54% of the experts leaning UK.
