  2. Prolly not listening today. Has he started defending UNCheat yet?

Okay now it has. Agrees it was fraudulent, but says the NCAA rules don’t define it as such, so not punishable. I still say it was cheating to make players eligible, and his argument makes no sense. All of the schools that have ever been punished for academics should have just given their players better grades.

    • You can see my response to that below JDub’s comment below.

It’s the same show every year with these guys. We could literally just listen to a previous show where most of these subs hosted.

I’ll pass on tomorrow and then hopefully enjoy the other 3.

    • I can’t remember if I’ve listened to Jared alone, but I’ll say again I think he’s awesome when he’s in there with Couch. Maybe they’ll host together again one day.

I’m going to predict Ryan joins him and they play that phone call game, and callers ask Jared the same 3 questions they always ask him about his playing days.

Did ya’ll see those pictures of KAT…Ugh?
Over the weekend they had pictures of Greg Norman in only a cowboy hat.
I guess they played Joe Cocker’s “You Can Leave Your Hat On” for that one… ha ha ha.

J-Dub, and regarding Norman, that guy looks like he is in fantastic shape for his age. How old is he? Has to be in his 60’s at least.

I think I read that Norman is 63. He is in great shape still, and so was Jerry Rice.

Mrs RCF puts it best – if we were all rich enough that we could pay someone to handle all the “minutia” of life, and have a personal chef to prepare delicious healthy meals for us, and hire a personal trainer, we could all be in awesome shape too. I am most impressed by the “regular slobs” who work full time job, take care of a house, kids, etc., and still fit in the time to stay in shape.

I really don’t care if UNC’s fake classes were available to everyone. They kept academically ineligible players eligible with fake classes. Players continued to play when they shouldn’t have been eligible because of grades. Period.

I was wondering who it was on the radio being a complete UNC homer, then I found out that it was Bilas and it all made sense. What a complete crock of sh!t.

Athletics aside, the fact that this scheme was available to all students is an indictment of the entire University.

    • Again, I haven’t been able to hear much today, but I guess the NCAA is splitting hairs over what a “fake” class is in addition to saying they were open to everyone. I saw some UNCheat fan (he was a blogger I think) arguing with Matt on Twitter saying they can’t be fake classes because (basically) they existed and were held, because the NCAA did say that (basically) they don’t govern class quality. Of course, saying a class existed when someone passes it with 2 or 3 rambling incoherent paragraphs is a stretch, but I digress.

Okay, so maybe what he said is all technically true, but if so, then the NCAA needs to change their rules.

An Alabama Supreme Court justice once wrote in an opinion that he didn’t like his ruling on the case at hand, and in fact he had to hold his nose while making it, but that it was the correct ruling according the way the law was written. He then said that the legislature should rewrite the law. I thought “There is a man who is doing his job in applying the law instead of legislating from the bench.” I don’t think anyone at the NCAA held their nose when they let the Heels skate though. Maybe I’m wrong.

Most of the experts keep saying only a few players will go straight to the NBA, so not much will change if they do away with one and done. Aaron Torres had an article where he asked AAU players what they thought, and almost every player he asked (many of them not at all elite) said they would seriously consider skipping college. I agree with the rule change in theory, but don’t think it will lead to any bettering of the NCAA whatsoever.

      11:16 am June 25, 2018 Permalink

Many more high school players will try to make the jump besides the “elite” players. The NBA has a short memory, and has forgotten why the one-year rule was put in place to begin with. There were a bunch of dudes like Sebastian Telfair and Kwame Brown who went pro right out of high school, got drafted high, and were busts. The NBA decided they didn’t like investing millions of dollars on untried high schoolers, so they enacted the one-and-done rule to allow themselves a longer/better evaluation period through one year of college.
