You can remove Javonte Smart’s name from consideration to be Kentucky’s next great point guard.
The Class of 2018 star, ranked No. 11 overall by Rivals.com, pledged his commitment to LSU on Friday. A Baton Rouge native, Smart wrote, “Everything I do, I do for my city,” in his announcement on Twitter.

Kentucky had been in the running for Smart’s services, although he did not hold a scholarship offer and was well behind Immanuel Quickley on the priority list.
Smart named Kentucky one of his top six schools back in May (along with Florida State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, UCLA and LSU) and hosted Calipari for an in-home visit in April, after taking an unofficial to Lexington back in February.
I guess we’ll see him again sometime in the Southeastern Conference in the 2018-19 season.
