With Calipari’s 2016 all but wrapped up, it’s OK to look ahead to 2017. In the front of the pack is small forward Jarred Vanderbilt, the #7 player in the 247 Composite rankings.
Vanderbilt has already been to Kentucky twice this year. His first trip was for the Marshall County Hoopfest, followed by an appearance at Dunbar High School for the Bluegrass Showcase. During the trip to Lexington he watched the Cats take on Arizona State. He will be back in Kentucky next weekend for Mustang Madness in McCracken County. Vanderbilt told Adam Zagoria that he’s already felt plenty of love from the BBN.
“I’m looking forward to going back out there, the fans really showed us a good time the last time,” Vanderbilt said. “They welcomed me with open arms and they really came out to support. That’s always a nice feeling.”
Vanderbilt’s recruitment is far from over, hesitating to declare a clubhouse leader, but there’s plenty of appeal for Kentucky. Others on his list are Texas, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Kansas, Arizona and Arizona State.
