We’re in the thick of 2018 recruiting, but it’s worth mentioning that John Calipari just handed out his first offer in the 2019 class. James Wiseman, a five-star power forward out of Memphis, Tennessee, received a scholarship offer today during a visit with Calipari. Pat Lawless of MADE Hoops was the first to report the news, but Wiseman quickly confirmed it on Twitter:

Adorably, his mother tweeted out a pic from the visit:

Arizona, Kansas, Louisville, and North Carolina have also offered Wiseman, ESPN’s top player in the 2019 class. This summer, he won a gold medal at the FIBA Americas with the USA U16 squad and played for Team Penny on the EYBL circuit. He recently transferred to East High School in Memphis from Ensworth in Nashville, where he averaged 20.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.0 blocks per game last season.
