Jamal Murray picks KENTUCKY

Screen Shot 2015-06-24 at 6.21.22 PM

Jamal Murray is the newest member of your 2015-16 Kentucky Wildcats basketball team. The five-star guard from Canada announced his commitment to the program this evening, ending a long and mysterious recruitment while finalizing John Calipari’s top-ranked recruiting class.

The addition of Murray instantly gives UK one of the best backcourts in the nation next season. He provides a great outside shot and versatility offensively, which is why he is highly regarded as a first-round draft pick one year from now.

Celebrate this one, BBN!

Great comment. Only in KY can people prematurely bemoan the recruiting of a coach who ends up with the #1 class in the nation. So little faith and confidence. Repent, ye of little faith!

I think he will end up being better than Malick Newman. Can we play three guard small ball ala the golden state warriors?

Disagree! Newman is a stud and will dominate the SEC…

Nice addition. Depth and an outside shot. Ulis as a true point guard, Briscoe as a power guard, with Murray to bust 3’s. Hawkins off the bench. Poy coming back with Lee and Skal. What is a defense to do. Should be fun!

This signing will relegate Mychal Mulder to the bench…

I was starting to think there was something wrong with all the young men and their work ethic that they would pick lower level schools over UK. Jamal had previously said he was looking at the long-term effect of his choice versus short term, which favored us. Who does The League better than Cal and UK?

He is the perfect complement to the dribble drive and if he can play defense,we can make it back to the final four!

Looks like Small Ball next year. Basically starting three point guards (who can all score) along with Skal at the five and a rotation of (Poythress, the other Canadian, and Marcus Lee at the 4) Looks like Hawkins and Willis will be odd men out. I hate it for Willis. The kid should probably consider transferring if he is serious about every playing.

No! Give the kid a chance. I still think he contributes mightily next year… IF he works his tail off between now and them. It’s on you, Derek.

Dude woulda looked better in Tar Heel Blue that’s for sure. But
It’s all good we don’t need anyone else/freshman coming in to
“Save” the season. UNC will be cutting down them nets next April.

Because UNC was so good this year. Where was UNC during the final four?

  24. Not so fast

First of all are we sure UNC will have a season, we know they don’t have any classes, and its been the same story for a while now, our freshman SAVE us a W every year against UNC, University of NO CLASS

I got to admit, I had my doubts about him coming…At one point I would have bet You He was headed to Oregon …Sure glad I was wrong…His playing at UK has to give them a pretty damn good chance in getting back to the Final Four, if everyone stays healthy….So Welcome to the Best Basketball program there is Jamal……Its a players first program, where coaches put the kids dreams of making it the NBA ahead of everything else..I think by midnight tomorrow night Jamal, You see 7 kids living out that same dream..That same dream You have, and now You just got to work hard, and go after it, and remember what’s at the end of tunnel , because Your at the best in America to get you ready to follow that dream………..again, welcome to Kentucky, where its UK against the world………………

Great addition! Mulder will get playing time so don’t sleep on him especially during crunch time. If Poythress comes back healthy Cal can go small ball if needed. Lot of possibilities now.

Do not count out Willis. He is a Junior, 6ft 9in tall and scores, defends, rebounds, passes, and is a good ball handler. He has been improving each year and playing against the best players in college basketball. He has game experience. With added muscle ( please hit that weight room) and hard work this summer,he could be a major factor with this group of guards. Trust Cal and the Staff to Gel this group to become a Great Team too.

A BBN fan out here in the west coast and warriors fan. This back court will give fits with the small ball line up. Let’s not forget Mulder who can shoot as well. Looking forward to some run n gun action. This team has speed and shooters.
