Jaemyn Brakefield blogs, still hears from UK and likes Drake

2020 Kentucky target Jaemyn Brakefield went to USA Today on Thursday and got to blogging. I’ll be perfectly honest with you, there isn’t much there. I’ve always liked that the kids come up with goofy names for their blogs, but Brakefield missed the mark. Brakefield Blog doesn’t move the needle. He missed an opportunity with “Pump the Brakes”.

But the blog is light on info.. He’s still hearing from Kentucky (Pitt and Wisconsin have started recruiting him) and he’s details his experience at the Steph Curry Camp. He was able to talk with Curry and he learned new tools for his game. He was impressed by Anthony Edwards and Cole Anthony. He enjoys music from Future and Drake, but plenty of other guys, too. You can read the entire thing here.

But it does give me a chance to not wait until Monday to remind you that Brakefield really, really likes Kentucky. And UK likes him. I guess you could say things are getting kinda serious. The 6-foot-8, 205-pound Mississippi native (now playing at Huntington Prep in West Virginia). Brakefield has already visited UK three times unofficially and that number will likely grow this fall. He does blog about taking visits this fall but doesn’t mention schools, I would fully expect another visit to Lexington.

UK hasn’t yet offered the five-star PF/wing, but that could come soon. If you’re into the Crystal Ball over at 247, all three picks have Brakefield heading to Lexington. I know most UK fans are still focused on the 2019 class, and for good reason, but the Cats have also already put in work for 2020.

Lock him down if he’s truly this legit. Before his AAU basketball coach becomes a college head coach and messes with our recruiting again
