The Commonwealth’s top export in the 2019 NBA Draft will go under the knife just a few weeks before his name is called at the Barclays Center.
ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reports former Murray State point guard Ja Morant will under arthroscopic surgery on his right knee Monday.
“Surgery” sounds bad, but it really isn’t in this case. The recovery time following the procedure is only three to four weeks. The only potential drawback is that it will prevent him from working out with other NBA teams. Even so, the Grizzlies are locked in on taking Morant with the second overall pick.
Morant isn’t the only top prospect receiving a minor procedure. Former Duke wing Cam Reddish will reportedly have a procedure to repair a core muscle injury that plagued him throughout the season. His timetable to return is a bit longer, right around six weeks, and unlike Morant, his draft status is still in flux.
