Just Ryan and Drew? It’s time to do something crazy. Let’s call a Louisville official to get a comment on the scandal live on the air.

There is no way that McGee pulled this off by himself. 1. He didn’t have the money to finance the prostitute parties. 2. McGee set up a hooker visit for Antonio Blakeney and his guardian months after McGee had left to go work for another university.

Agree he didn’t do this solo but it could have been done only with the help of boosters and likely at least one other person involved directly with the program. Who else on the UofL staff was involved? I honestly can’t hazard a guess at this point but I agree with JDub, McGee was not totally rogue with this scandal.

McGee made around $105,000 a year. I think over four years he could easily afford the $10,000 that keeps being brought up.

It isn’t a money issue as far as I am concerned. As JDub notes, there was involvement from McGee after hes was no longer at UofL. Someone back in Louisville was handling things.

McGee made 105K a year? where did you get that info? no grad assistant a couple of years out of school is going to make that kind of money.

JS, where do you get $105,000 a year? I have read way less. Maybe it was higher when he went from grad assistant to actual staff member, I don’t know.

mcgee made 105,000 after he was promoted to basketball operations
when he was still just a grad assistant, he only made ~$30,000

      2010—2012: Louisville (graduate assistant)
2012—2014: Louisville (director of basketball operations)

Also, the $10,000 that keeps being mentioned was money paid directly to Powell for setting up the parties. That number doesn’t include anything that was paid additionally once recruits/players would choose a girl to have sex with, that cost extra. It also doesn’t include money that was given to players/recruits to throw at the strippers. McGee would give them all wads of singles. The total number paid to the hookers/strippers was much higher. Powell said she did 22 shows for U of L.

Are you guys listening to yourselves? For 1 million dollars, you would admit to hiring underage girls for sex?

Something that hasn’t been mentioned in all this UofL mess that was reported on OTL yesterday. Katina met Andre McGee on her SECOND visit to the school. She was originally approached by a Barber that the players frequently went to. Why isn’t anyone talking to the Barber? Could this Barber be a booster or maybe the source of the funds? and if the Barber approached Katina at first, how long was this going on before Katina ever got involved?

    Just sayin’…

    • ukjaybrat

OTL investigator (i think) said they called the barber and asked if he was involved. he said no and hung up on them

The Louisville scandal is still nothing compared to what went on at UNC. That was hands down cheating to keep kids eligible to win games!

We don’t have to choose. Both scandals are shameful and deserving of severe sanctions. Not that we can expect anything in particular from the NCAA.

No they didn’t. Ryan didn’t say either way, and Drew said it was close (a coin flip) because he’s having so much fun right now. Clutch, you can’t seriously think they’d trade the Cal years for a Louisville take down. They’re just having a good time with this, try to have a sense of humor.

^ Uh, yeah. They did. Right near the end of the first hour. They said that right at this moment, they were having more fun with this. I get the Louisville hate, I really do. I just get tired of the infantile attitudes that some of our fans have sometimes.

just listened on podcast a day late… they said that “Right NOW” this is more fun. This very minute, they are having more fun with the scandal than they are the final four runs. i would agree with that. i’m still bitter AF abotu the wisconsin loss. so that’s just a painful memory. i am absolutely having more fun with this “Right NOW”

but as they said in the very next breath, a year from now, the final four runs will be a better memory.

I just can’t get on board with treating this UL situation like it’s a joke. It’s sad. Prostitutes offered to recruits (17 year olds?) and their parents? It should have never happened. I think Pitino HAS to go, if he didn’t know details he sure as hell heard rumblings and kept his head in the sand. The bottom line is this is bad for college basketball as a whole.

    • ukjaybrat
      11:52 am October 21, 2015 Permalink

I don’t think anyone would argue that this isn’t a sad story for everyone involved. but if the roles were reversed, and this were cal, do you honestly think anyone in the country wouldn’t have pitchforks raised? you think Louisville fans wouldn’t be giving us the “I told you so” speeches every single day? for years, we’ve gotten the “wait til the ncaa catches up to cal, banners will come down” rhetoric. and now that Louisville fans have to shut up and take it, it’s somewhat gratifying. we are giddy over the fact that Louisville is burning. it has little to do with the actual reason why. we would all be just as happy if Rick got caught red handed giving an envelope of cash to a player.

I haven’t read of anyone gloating because of the action, but rather having fun kicking glue on the faces of all those dirty birds so that crap will permanently stay on their faces. I hope every day to wake up with another twist to the scintillating story. Rest assured there will be more!
