Governor Andy Beshear spoke today, as he’s done everyday for the last fortyleven years since March, and among the bullet points in his day’s notes was the KHSAA’s call to proceed with fall sports.
In case you missed it, the Kentucky High School Sports Association announced it will begin practices next week, a decision made by a 16-2 vote Thursday morning.
Governor Beshear had not yet received anything from KHSAA at the time of his press conference, so he was hesitant to comment on Thursday’s vote.
“I’m certainly not going to make a recommendation before I get it,” Beshear said. “I may want to ask their commissioner some questions… I’m going to take a breath and make sure that I’m thoughtful about what we do.”
So for now the KHSAA will proceed, but the governor can still have a say in matters when he’s caught up.
