Looking forward to the 2nd hour. Since Shannon is out, hopefully the show won’t start off with the stuff not working.

If you missed Ryan, his wife and John Short on WKQQ check it out here: http://www.wkqq.com/onair/the-man-cave-53613/icymi-ryan-lemond-power-hour-on-13570941/

As a Purdue engineering graduate. If it isn’t for engineering IDK why you go.

UT basketball fans may be even more delusional that UofL fans. Were not happy with Martin even though he was winning games for them and pulling in recruits. They were too busy whining and pining for Bruce Pearl.

The thing that makes all of these home-boys staying with their hometown schools sting even more is that we couldn’t get the same from Damien Harris.

Maybe we’ll get Kash Daniels in football. We got Towles, Barker, and Elam. πŸ™‚

Hope so, J-Dub. Yes, those guys are great, but I REALLY wanted Harris – a true 5-star recruit that would have really put UK on the national recruiting map. Still, we have to be happy with the job Stoops & Co is doing on the recruiting trail.

I agree, but remember that 1 or 2 hotshot recruits can turn around a bball program very quickly, especially in this day and time. Not so in football.

You’re right though. I argued (nicely) on here with 1 or 2 folks who said “It doesn’t matter…we have Boom”. My position was that this would have REALLY put UK on the map in the eyes of other top recruits. Perception is EVERYTHING for some of these young guys.

Overall Stoops has done a great job at keeping the in state talent home at UK. It would have been great to get Harris, no doubt, but you can’t get them all.

So Florida has decided to go back to being a football school and is just conceding SEC basketball to us. That is what their new hire is telling me.

Florida’s hire to replace Donovan is a statement by their AD that they are abandoning basketball in favor of football.

    • J-Dub421
      10:39 am May 8, 2015 Permalink

That’s pretty much why Donovan left. He got tired of playing second fiddle and them never spending money on basketball, even while their football program has started to slide.

He did hire Ron Zook … but after that hired Urban Meyer. That worked out for Florida okay.

I don’t recall Jim McElwane’s (sp?) name being mentioned for the UK football job, do any of you? Is MJ getting his name mixed up with someone else? I know one guy who was a candidate (San Jose St. coach I think) wound up at Colorado instead. Maybe he’s thinking of him.

Also, it was interesting when MJ mentioned the inflation of bball players height. I remember a guy who played for Eddie Sutton at Okie State (Byron something I believe). He was a power forward listed at like 6’6″ or 6’8″ or so, and when measured before the draft was actually 6’3″ or 6’4″. Stock went WAY down.

I’d take the West Virginia series. It’s the highest profile, and they haven’t really been lighting up the Big 12. Plus we’ve been killing them on the recruiting trail and just stole their offensive coordinator, so he should know how to beat them.
