Hello, Reid Travis…

…and welcome to the University of Kentucky.

The Stanford grad transfer is expected to be in the Bluegrass today for his first visit.  Villanova is the other contender for the physical double-double machine, but a visit to Philadelphia has not yet been scheduled.  Yesterday John Calipari hinted that the roster will be complete “by next week.”  If all goes well today, a commitment from Travis could happen soon.

Kentucky Adds ANOTHER Outside Linebacker

Speaking of commitments, the Cats landed a three-star linebacker last night.  Just a few days after officially visiting Kentucky, Tra Wilkins became the third outside linebacker to commit to Kentucky in the 2019 class, joining KD McDaniel and JUCO transfer Marquez Bembry.

Hailing from Stephenson High School in Stone Mountain, Georgia, a popular recruiting area during the Rich Brooks’ era, Wilkins had previously officially visited UofL and held offers from every big name in college football: Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Texas A&M and Florida, just to name a few.  UK now has the No. 49 recruiting class in 2019.  Stay tuned for more on Wilkins, who will speak with KSR this afternoon.

Big Blue Caravan Begins in Marshall County

Kentucky brought quite a few big names to the first of five stops on the Big Blue Caravan.  Mark Stoops, John Calipari, Josh Allen and Kash Daniel were in Marshall County to talk to fans and take Benny Snellfies.

Today the Big Blue Caravan will make a stop at the Madisonville Kroger from 4:00-6:00 p.m.  The rest of this week’s schedule:

  • Wednesday: Elizabethtown Kroger, 3040 Dolphin Drive, 4:00-6:00
  • Thursday: Somerset Kroger, 50 Stonegate Center, Noon-1:00
  • Friday: Pikeville, East Kentucky Expo Center, Billy Johnson Stage, Noon-2:00

Draft Moves

As we get closer to the NBA Draft, we’re getting a little more clarity on where the Kentucky Wildcats may be picked.  Today Kevin Knox will work out with the Bryan Colangelo-less Philadelphia 76ers.  Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has not worked out or done interviews with many teams at all, which gives more credence to yesterday’s report that Toronto plans to trade up to select their native son.  You can’t blame Shai for shutting it down if he got a promise from the team he grew up watching.

What a Name

England avoided another year of World Cup embarrassment, all thanks to English captain Harry Kane.  Yes, the captain of the English football team is Harry Kane.  No, that’s not a porn star; that’s the guy who scored in extra time to break a tie with Tunisia.

It was England’s first World Cup victory since 2010 (LOL).  Today’s World Cup Schedule:

  • 8:00 am — Colombia vs. Japan on FS1
  • 11:00 am — Poland vs. Senegal on FS1
  • 2:00 pm — Russia vs. Egypt on Fox

The Sklar Brothers are Coming Back to KSR

Can’t imagine that Cal will be able to accompany the caravan to Madisonville today. He’ll be on campus visiting with Reid Travis.

He should be; Travis is as important as any recruit we’ve signed…because he is unique, and we have no one like him.
      Need to make this happen.

With that being said, I’ll believe he is playing for UK when he signs the official LOI. Even then, probably gonna remain skeptical until he’s in uniform at the spring game.
