I’ve done a lot of stuff I didn’t want to do as your editor-in-chief of KSR over the years. Through all of the highs, there have been many lows. But none quite like tonight.
Friends, family, readers, everyone else; it is with disappointment in myself, and complete embarrassment, that I tell you I watched a live stream of Karl-Anthony Towns playing video game Monopoly for over two hours tonight. Never in my life did I ever think I’d reach the point of watching someone else play a video game — not to mention via a live stream, for two hours — but that’s what I did tonight. And I did it because KSR needed me to do it. (But not really. It was all my dumb idea.)
Anyway, that happened, and if you have any interest in watching Towns play Monopoly on a video game console with a bunch of people you don’t know, you can too!
If not, here are five observations I made while watching the stream and trying to convince myself it’s a normal, completely reasonable thing to do on a Wednesday evening:
— One of the players dropped A LOT of F-Bombs. Towns didn’t seem too comfortable with it, either.
— Towns gave a shout-out to Malone’s in Lexington. He recommended Coach Cal’s Chicken (that’s an actual menu item) to the viewers.
— Towns bought Kentucky Avenue. Said he had to represent for Kentucky.
— Monopoly has a video game, apparently.
— I will never get those two hours of my life back.
