Highlights from a WILD Night with James Ramsey and the UofL Board

I don’t really know how to describe today’s marathon emergency UofL Board of Trustees meeting. Cliches like “dumpster fire” or “s***show” don’t apply because I have never seen anything like this.
In order to truly understand the insanity, I’ll let you see how the ups and downs of the day through the eyes of the media members covering it on campus.
It began with Ramsey offering his resignation, on the condition that he remains in office until 2017 as the Interim President while making the same salary. Then, things got wild.
First, the Board entered “executive session,” closing their doors to the public.

Ramsey gave a lecture on economics and higher education to a room of graduate students. It’s something he’s done before, but that changed when he decided to address current events.

The slideshow wasn’t a short one.

The slideshow on life lessons included a clip from the 1984 Nick Nolte classic, “Teachers.”
This scene @joesonka, but in the class it started about a minute earlier into the movie. @WHAS11 https://t.co/mMxKoMa0CR

There was an appropriate quote that aired just before, but is missing in the linked clip.
@joesonka there’s a moment just before when another teacher is being forced to resign & Nolte tells him not to @WHAS11

And this:

That clip is Ramsey’s muse.
(Cont4) afterwards, as we walk across campus, #UofL President confides that when he's down he always watches that clip(cont). @WHAS11

Once Ramsey was finished, he returned to his office, up the staircase from where the Board of Trustees was meeting behind closed doors. Junior Bridgeman is the board chairman, but unfortunately that job doesn’t come with a runner.
Bridgeman spent the next two hours going back and forth, up and down the stairs. On the bright side, he won’t have to worry about reaching his FitBit goal for the day.

Six hours of meeting in public and private was not enough; the meeting rolls on. Meanwhile, others seek shelter.

The University of Louisville–the gift that keeps on giving!! Lol!!
Bologna never spoils… but it’s not suppose to know that.
Who in the hell let the bologna know that it had a say?!?
So……. Is he fired or what? Whewwww
I have a serious question. How long did it take Nick Roush to put this thing together? And did he seriously think that anyone would read it start to finish? This is probably the biggest waste of time I have ever seen on this board.
I can see how you don’t think it’s entertaining, seeing as though you’re a Louisville fan. But the rest of us got a kick out of this post, laughing at your sideshow circus school. You guys really are the gifts that keep us laughing.
LMAO FBI Informant showed up to give his opinion on this. Shocker. 😉

I’m reaching? And UL isn’t my school. I’m a UK alum.

You know what’s fun? When we post negative things about UL, knowing that UK has had their fair share of employees with run ins with the law, and UL fans are going to easily point all of them out with a 3sec Google search. It may be wise to not expose our own glass house.

Uk is my alma-mater.
But I live in Louisville. Unfortunately my alma-mater has a sports fanbase where the vast majority never went to college and therefore cannot conseptualize the difference between sports and real-life.

Well, we know that the BOT at UL had many UK fans on it, including the person that was leaking info to Matt. Now Junior Bridgeman is in charge of the hiring of the new BOT. Junior will certainly be putting together an Athletics Friendly Board and I can’t imagine that being a big UK fan will be finding themselves as part of the group. You think Jurich has had power before? Just wait till he lobbies his people onto the BOT. Facilities and money for coaching is getting ready to go through the roof.

Why all the butthurt? Forde said Cal owned the draft, which is a huge deal for recruiting as was just stated. And then he simply made the true comment that owning draft day every single year doesn’t equate to National Championships. That’s a fact. Why are you all so sensitive about it?

Wait… Rick isn’t allowed to use plausible deniability but Calipari is? At UMass they were cheating on grades to keep guys eligible which is an on campus issue, had agents buying HOOKERS and jewelry and giving cash to Camby ON CAMPUS, at Memphis he had Roses brother ON THE PLANE right in front of his face, and they had players busted for PROSTITUTES, and they had players busted for starting riots, and they had players busted for drugs, and on and on and on and on and on. But now Cal is not the same guy that had banners removed at two places? I’m confused.

Look, another Pitino article, followed by awkward stalking story about eavesdropping on UL players at Foot Locker. Jeez this stuff makes UK fans look dumb. Seriously, who goes to Foot Locker since the Internet was invented?

What did he say that was incorrect? Looks like his opinion is backed up by the facts surrounding Cal’s tenure at UMass. Like it or not, before he got to UK, Cal ran two completely rogue programs in UMass & Memphis. The amount of crime, NCAA issues, legal problems, drug problems, domestic abuse problems, etc, far outweighed the norm, and outshined the winning. Just bc it doesn’t appear that he runs the same type of program at UK, shouldn’t dismiss the pathetic programs that proceeded. Even our own Matt Jones called him out before the title game at Memphis, and he was completely justified in doing so.
Every post you make disses UK and/or defends ul.
Writing this long post just confirms your obsession with UL. I really enjoy reading this site being a UK grad and now living in FL. I use this page to get insight on current UK news. It is so sad that we cannot hold ourselves to a higher standard. Why comment on every move that UL makes? It makes our fan base look obsessed and insecure about our program. From Matt Jones interviewing Katina Powell to the President scandal.
I think I might find a new UK website to support. Good luck in the future, you closet UL fans.
BECAUSE ITS HILARIOUS WATCHING THAT MESS OVER THERE!!!!!!! LMFAO!!! Now, go cry somewhere else.
You’ll be back, closet UL fan.
I think “CF” is the most appropriate cliche for this situation.
