Hey Kentucky talks with teachers in Frankfort following pension controversy

The teachers of Kentucky have spoken, and they are not happy with the proposed education cuts made by officials in Frankfort.

Thousands of individuals showed up in support of teachers, with signs and chants dominating the area both inside the buildings and outside.

Hey Kentucky took a trip to the State Capitol to talk to protesters on their thoughts on the cuts and why they feel it’s necessary to take a stand.

Take a look:

Matt Jones personal political DNC news bandwagon. And you thought the Herald Leader was bad.

Yes, he is a joke. Says he wants a piece of McConnell. No way he will run. He couldn’t carry election from people on his own website. He would get trounced.

KSR, I love and admire you, but you are reaching a fork in the road and a decision is fast approaching. Matt, I realize you are politically motivated; and while many of us find interest in the subject, I am of the belief all things related to sports and entertainment should avoid the political realm. We are bombarded with news and satire 24/7, in virtually every facet of life. Personally, I turn to outlets like KSR to briefly escape reality. If you wish to enter the public sector, so be it. But that will essentially commence the end of Kentucky Sports Radio. You will alienate a large portion of your audience–if not the majority.

It goes without saying everyone is entitled to hold and express their respective beliefs. Furthermore, as citizens we are entitled to take part in the political process. I don’t discourage the act itself. In fact, I admire someone with the desire to make a difference and the necessary fortitude to see the ambition to fruition. However … please choose one road or the other. I would prefer if political discourse was kept to a less-than-polarizing minimum.

    That’s my .02 anyway.

Couldn’t agree more. Long time KSR fan but starting to get frustrated with all the political commentary. Fine on Hey Kentucky, but please keep it off KSR!

If the teachers care so much about these kids learning something, shouldn’t they be in school teaching them instead of yelling in the streets?

Every day they are in the streets will be made up at the end of the year. They were yelling for Education funding today – THAT IS FOR THE KIDS! The Pension is over…it was slide threw under cover Thursday without any one knowing it was going to happen…except the GOP. Every thing today was for your child if you have one.

Yeah teachers, just to do your job and accept whatever the law makers decide. You only provide a future for all the children in Kentucky. It’s not like you have an important job or anything. It’s not like America was founded on the belief that you should be able to non-violently protest something in the government. Do you think this is a democracy or something? Seriously dude? Get out of here with that crap.

Yes teachers are important, but they have nothing to complain about. Our school system in my town is one of the least paying schools in Kentucky and teachers start out at no less than 30,000 a year and only have to work 9 months out of the year. Why complain?

ATTENTION MATT JONES: I have criticized your political ideologies in the past BUT no more. Please run for something. I’ll vote for you. How about Governor?
