Tubby Smith to play in Barbasol Championship Pro-Am

USA Today

Tubby Smith will return to Kentucky this week to play in the Barbasol Championship Pro-Am at Keene Trace in Nicholasville on Wednesday.

“I’m not much of a golfer,” Smith told Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader. “As you get older, a lot of these guys’ games improve. Mine seems to be deteriorating.”

Smith will join Rick Dees, John Michael Montgomery and our very own, Matt Jones as celebrities playing alongside PGA TOUR pros in Wednesday’s Pro-Am.

“Playing in a PGA TOUR event Pro-Am is an experience like no other in sports,” said Brooks Downing, Executive Director of the Barbasol Championship. “Our Pro-Am participants will each get to play alongside two PGA TOUR pros and the experience is simply priceless.”

Is it true that Tubby heads back to the clubhouse after putting out on 14 because he doesn’t play the final four? I kid, I kid.
