Happy Left-Handers Day

jared-lorenzen

Come on. Like there’s another guy you want as the face of left-handers day in Kentucky? That’s right August 13 is the day to honor left-handers all across the world in our battle of three-ring notebooks and to find pens that won’t leave ink on our hands. This year marks the 24th year of celebrating left-handers day, which is far too little of a number.

So, with that who are some of the great left handed basketball players to come through Lexington? Thanks to BigBlueHistory.net there was a list of lefties that put on the blue and white. Some of the names are rather impressive dating back to Kevin Grevey and Jack Givens playing alongside together. After those two there was Tayshaun Prince (cue Bill Raftery screaming why do lefties look so pretty) and Cliff Hawkins.

Most notably though is the fact the 2013-14 team had the most left-handed teammates in Kentucky history with four. The quartet was made up of Julius Randle, James Young, Sam Malone and Jarrod Polson.

So to all the other lefties out there, enjoy your day. Who is your favorite lefty from Kentucky?

Mike Pratt, Larry Steele and Tom Parker were all lefties.

Without a doubt it was Tom Parker the smooth lefty from Collinsville, Ill. I remember that phrase spoken many times by the one and only Cawood Ledford.
