Five-star power forward Greg Brown took his official visit to Kentucky last weekend and was in the house for the Cats’ win over Alabama. Today, he blogged about his trip for Sports Illustrated, and it sounds like it went just as well as we had heard.

I’m just coming off my visit to Kentucky last weekend and it was a great visit. I loved the environment, the coaches, the players really, genuinely wanted me to come there.

The fans were chanting, “We want Greg!” at the game and that was crazy because they’re so loud there. Everyone was telling me that Kentucky had a wild fan base, but they exceeded what I was expecting.

I think the highlight was the game. The second half was so live and everyone was in to the game. You could feel the energy.

Good job, Rupp. Brown said that he had “good talks” with John Calipari, who gave him a rundown of what his role would be in Lexington and how he would prepare him for the NBA.

Brown is considered the top power forward in the 2020 class and is also considering Texas, Auburn, Memphis, and Michigan. He’ll visit the Wolverines on February 8 and plans to announce his decision in the spring once his senior season is over. The Longhorns are still considered the favorite for the Austin, Texas native, but it sounds like the Cats made up a lot of ground last weekend.

Probably wrong but I don’t feel like we get many of the high profile guys that put things off until Spring.
