Josephine reminds me of my own grandma and she was how I pictured. That is awesome. Glad you all could do that. I assume you all will never go to Kentucky Joe’s house?

  2. Someone who is on the “Tweeter”, as Tipton once called it, twit/tweet Matt and tell him he needs to ask Cal about Josephine. I remember her calling when he did his very first Coach Cal show shortly after taking the UK job because I couldn’t forget that voice and it was an entertaining call. He was blown away when she told him how long she had followed UK bball so I think he would remember it.

Weren’t Wall and Cousins committed to Memphis when Cal left? Maybe that’s why they’re mad.

    • Yeah, I’m sure that’s a big part of it. They saw them ballin’ in UK blue instead of Memphis blue. That would have been hard for me to take too if the tables were turned.

Wall was leaning, Cousins had committed verbally but hadn’t signed a LOI, that’s why he was able to switch so easily.

doesn’t take much to confuse our defense.

I would have to agree, Patrick played okay, play calling was horrendous. Seemed like we trying too much to air the ball as oppose to run it especially in the second half. Take cues from Cowboys last year, offense compensated for the weak defense.

They were GIVING us the long ball. Decent play calling, mediocre execution. The receivers were open, passes were either too short or too long in the second half.

Last year, and for many years past the fanbase has b!tched incessantly about the horizontal passing game, replete with bubble screens or a run up the (overmatched) middle on 3rd and 13. Agree that a few more run plays to Boom and Horton may have changed things more to our favor but if the defense is giving the deep pass you would be a fool not to attempt it. Towles is capable of those passes, he just muffed several of them.

Its funny when people who have absolutely no clue about football, say things like “the play-calling was horrendous”.

Pretty sure Shannon Dawson has more offensive play-calling knowledge in his little finger than some dude named ‘harry’ on a KSR comment board… Good grief….

Here’s one for ya: maybe they didn’t run it to Boom that much, to protect him from injury against ULL, when we head to SC this week? Ever heard the phrase “a RB only has so many hits in him?”

    • LMAO
      11:09 am September 10, 2015 Permalink

And CATandMONKEY is right: ULL was GIVING us the deep pass, so you obviously TAKE it. They were putting 8 and 9 guys in the box….

Does ANY of this make ANY sense to you at all, or am I basically trying to reason with a fence post?

If Pat had connected on a few gimmies, the score would have been in the 50’s… He just missed on several. Hopefully he can correct that. I think he will.

LMAO, coaches are paid millions of dollars to make the decisions, not me I get that, If your QB is not making plays try something else? In the second half of the game ULL made changes, our coaching staff did not adjust. Last three quarters of the game ULL 33, KY 26.

20 YRS ANNIVERSARY OF MOE WILLIAMS GOING FOR 429 YDS AT A RAINY SOUTH CAROLINA. GO CATS!!!

    • Dude, I had forgotten about that! I just had to look it up, and according to Wikipedia:

“During the 1995 season in a single game at South Carolina Williams rushed for 299 yards (with three touchdowns in the first half) and a total of 429 all purpose yards (57 receiving and 73 on kickoff returns), the most ever by a player in the Southeastern Conference and the second highest total in NCAA history.”

  10. Memphis played UCLA for the natty in the early 70’s with a great player named Keith Lee. He may be a HOF’er.

In game management was sub par, I felt that staff wanted to blow ULL out of CWS for that reason PT was throwing bombs down field forgetting our defense’s youth and inexperience to stop. So against SC we have to do a better job of offensive clock management.

Like i said yesterday i never thought i would say this but you can’t throw down field on every play. Try the 10 to 20 yard pass and mix in a run now and then. I know you can’t please every one and this is just what i think and it probably is wrong .

NCAA is a hollow shell of an organization, and they know it. I think they’ve just given up trying to enforce anything.
In fact, I look for them to re-instate Enes Kanter.

I think the ad is right – because it is two connected by “or” and not “and” – I didn’t hear both subjects but if both were singular subjects then this rule applies…

–When two or more singular nouns or pronouns are connected by or or nor, use a singular verb.

Even if one of the subjects was plural then – I think the subject closest to the “or” in the ad was singular so – this rule would apply.

–When a compound subject contains both a singular and a plural noun or pronoun joined by or or nor, the verb should agree with the part of the subject that is nearer the verb.

  21. Nick
    11:41 am September 10, 2015 Permalink

Per Wikipedia (so you know it’s true)
    Nickname for intercollegiate athletics
The name “Mean Green,” now in its forty-eighth year, was adopted by fans and media in 1966 for a North Texas football defensive squad that finished the season second in the nation against the rush.[103] That season, Joe Greene,[104] then a sophomore at North Texas, played left defensive tackle on the football team and competed in track and field (shot put). The nickname “Mean Joe Greene” caught-on during his first year with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1969 when Pittsburgh fans wrongly assumed that “Mean Green” was derived from a nickname Joe Greene had inherited while at North Texas. The North Texas athletic department, media, and fans loved the novelty of the national use of its nickname, and its association with Joe Greene’s surname and university’s official school color. By 1968, “Mean Green” was branded on the backs of shirts, buttons, bumper stickers, and the cover of the North Texas football brochure.
