Wizards won a playoff series and have a pretty good shot at winning another one… pretty soon Colin Cowherd will have to start complaining that John Wall hasn’t cured cancer or made peace in the middle East.

Football / Spring Game – with UK’s RB’s having a great showing in the Blue/White game last weekend, it is obviously a great sign for the offense and should prove to be lethal with the Air Raid passing attack. For those in the know, are our RB’s that strong or is our defense going to struggle against strong running attacks in the SEC?

    • Coach
      11:21 am April 30, 2014 Permalink

They played against the reserves. No way to tell. I would say it’s likely a combination of both. The RBs aren’t bad, but they won’t perform like you saw in the game. Same with the defense. Most coaches will tell you that Spring Games will not tell you much from a team perspective. They are designed to evaluate individuals in a game like atmosphere. You have players out there lined up, with the starters, and against the starters, that will likely never see a minute of playing time at UK. How do you evaluate an entire team based on that?

I mentioned this in the thread late in the show yesterday, but I think it’s worth mentioning again.

Why not have a donor wall with fans’ names in the new Rupp? You could get tons of interest from people who would love to have their name on a brick or something in Rupp. And probably charge a significantly higher price than 300.

Still give the certificate, but also note that their name is engraved on a wall in Rupp. Who wouldn’t love that?

    • inlinefor9

The breyer numbers. They’re typically in the 80s/90s. Hard to explain where they are without having a program to point them out. Higher number the better. The program should have a key in the front that can show you where to find these.

Matt, what Tony was describing was the events that compromise The Kentucky Derby Festival. In the 80’s through the 90’s most of the events centered around being outside and drinking beer and eating junkfood. The 2 weeks prior to the Derbt was a celebration of the arrival of spring after winter and a chance to get outside on the river or at the chow wagon and catch up with friends and kick off the onset of warmer weather.

  29. Facts

The Delta Queen was the rival of the Belle of Louisville and the boat went out of commission like 5 years ago, so they have to keep finding other working steamboats to come race. Its hard to find working steamboats in this day and age. So with out the big rivalry of the Delta Queen it kind of lost its luster.

The great Louisville paddle-boat race always included massive quantities of alcohol for all involved. Imagine half of Louisville inebriated. I cant listen to your show live, but stop with your propaganda on the $300 for RUpp renovation. You are A. oversimplifying things, and 2. skewing the results to side with you.

In reality you are going to have a combination of the $1 million, $1,000, and $3,000 donors contributing to the process. And if anything the people in Eastern Kentucky would probably like this little certificate since it is so hard for them to go to the games, at least they can have something that connects them toi the program since getting a ticket and driving 2-3 hours one way to a game isnt always feasible.

My church puts on benefit concerts to help pay for medical bills to those who can’t afford them, pay for funerals for people who may otherwise not be able to afford to bury their loved ones, etc. We also take up “love” offerings and do clothes/toy drives for families who lose their houses to fire. Most of the time, people we don’t even know. We had a father at our church to pass away just before Christmas one year of a heart attack at a young age. A love offering was given to that wife and 3 children to make sure they’re Christmas was as good as it could have been in those circumstances. Christianity is like the BBN. 98% of us do it for the good. That 1-2% give us all a bad name.

The $50 fee is NOT for processing

The University of Kentucky will oversee fan contributions for a “Team Rupp” one-time fundraiser to generate $35 million for the renovation of Rupp Arena and attached convention center space.
The program will ask for one-time contributions of $300 from an estimated 140,000 people. Of that money, $250 will go to the Rupp redesign and $50 will go to UK.
UK is working on details of the Team Rupp program. But those who buy a $300 share will likely be invited to special events. It is modeled after a program used by the Green Bay Packers to renovate Lambeau Field.

Matt’s idea that this incoming class isn’t crazy talented is just not fair or true. They won’t be one and done? At least two of the four will be one and done. Three of four could as well. I don’t get Matt’s stance on this. Karl Towns and Trey Lyles are crazy talented big men. Booker is an elite level shooter and he’s also tremendously skilled in other areas. Ulis is small, but in all other areas he is freakishly skilled.

    • There is no true beast in the incoming class.

Disagree. While Julius was an extremely good player, he wasn’t such an overwhelming offensive force that teams didn’t know what to do against us. I believe that next year’s team’s offense will be much, much better than this past team. There will be so many weapons and guys that can score inside and out. No true beast? That is incorrect. Karl Towns is projected to be in the Top 10 or Top 5 in many different draft projections for next season. The guy is awesome and is an elite shooter. He will be an offensive force.
