Get your first look at Tyler Herro this weekend

Two of John Calipari’s incoming freshmen will put their games on display this weekend when Keldon Johnson and Tyler Herro compete in the Jordan Brand Classic. Big Blue Nation got a nice taste of what Johnson can do in the McDonald’s All-American Game, but this will be fans’ first look at Herro, who hasn’t received the same recognition as his UK classmates.

The Jordan Brand Classic game will be played in the Barclays Center and tip-off is slated for Sunday at 5 pm on ESPN 2. KSR’s own Jack Pilgrim is already in the Big Apple for the festivities leading up to the game, so we’ll have plenty of coverage of Johnson and Herro leading up to their big game.

Go ahead and watch Herro’s senior year mixtape to hold you over until Sunday:

If he could just learn to be a total d-bag, he could do an excellent Grayson Allen impersonation with his size, skill and athleticism. And I say that in the most loving way possible, so don’t anybody freak out.

Could he be like Devin Booker? That would be great, if so.

Just hope he doesn’t get Jon Hooded…

Only reason you say that, is because he’s white. He is way better than Hood. He will definitely play next year because he plays with an edge. He had the whole state of Wisconsin against him every game last year, and he plays with a chip on his shoulder.

I live in Chicago and made the trip up to the Milwaukee area to see him play 9 times. Herro is better than Grayson Allen talent wise in every aspect of the game, he will be very effective next year for the Wildcats.

I love this kid, can’t explain why but I do. Hope he stays hungry like he did when getting snubbed by McDonald’s All American selection.

Can shoot off the dribble, very fluid, and with RANGE! Could have used him this year. Have no clue, but I bet he is 80+% FT shooter too…..just looks like a shooter, something UK desperately needs!

If this dude doesn’t start next year Cal needs his head examined. Yes, I know there are more variables involved (can he defend?, etc.) but we haven’t had a player with these offensive abilities since Booker. And especially considering our FT woes, this cat needs to be on the floor early and often.
