Frank Haith on his way to Tulsa? UPDATE: He’s gone

Things just got a little more interesting on the SEC basketball coaching carousel. ESPN’s Jeff Goodman is reporting that Missouri’s Frank Haith is in talks with Tulsa to become their new head coach.

Last season, the Tigers had the talent to make the tournament but underachieved all year, putting heat on Haith after his third season in Columbia. Haith has also had to deal with problems off the court, dismissing Louisville transfer Zach Price after a teammate filed an order of protection against him. Price was suspended indefinitely from Missouri on April 3 after being arrested on suspicion of domestic assault and assault.

Now, which is the better job: Tennessee or Missouri? I say Missouri.

UPDATE: Multiple outlets are reporting that Haith has accepted the job at Tulsa.

What does Tennessee have to do with anything?

You serious? Because they’d be the two open SEC jobs.

Frank Haith likes to poop a lot. Then, he gets tired.

I bet Bruce Pearl wishes he hadn’t jumped at the first open SEC school

I think Pearl made the right move – he’s at a football school, so he can be the top dog during the winter but never have the pressure of having the full spotlight.

Haith is probably leaving another mess behind him… and probably will be like Miami where they are actually better on the court after he’s gone. Overrated, overpaid coach. Hope he (and his oversized suits) leaves the SEC.

Frank Haith is one coach that will pay money for recruits and transfers. The fact that he will actually do that without hesitation makes him a dangerous recruiter. That is why I hope he leaves. No more losing transfers like Alex Oriakhi.

I’m glad he is leaving the sec. I rarely call another coach a scumbag due to the unfairness our coach gets, but this guy really is a scumbag. Proven

I agree with you on Haith. However, little Ricky “three stacks’ Jr. is the biggest scumbag of all. Unfortunately, it is looking more likely that he will eave Minnesota for one of the open SEC jobs. I hate the f*cking guy for what he did to Eric Bledsoe. Intentionally leaking a kid’s transcripts to the media to try to make him ineligible to play and to embarrass him. He’s the worst!

Tennessee is the better job, without a doubt.
    The have better facilities.
    Bigger athletic budget.
    Better tradition.
    Better recruiting base.
Will be a higher salary for a proven coach.
The only problem is that damn Rocky Top song…god I would throw up if I had to listen to that as many times as the average fan/coach/player does.

Agreed……hell Danny Manning left there for a low-level ACC gig, Haith def going in reverse, escaping the fanbases’ pitchforks and torches along the way.

I hope Missouri and Tennessee both hire good coaches. I want the SEC to start getting more than 2 or 3 teams in the tourney each year. I hate seeing a coach leave the SEC to go C – USA school.

First, almost anyone MO hires will be an upgrade. Haith is a poor coach. Second, it is somewhat disturbing that now the SEC is losing coaches to mid-majors. Tells you the state of basketball in the SEC.

sooooo he leave bc he was about to get fired for on-the-court-performance or (more) violations??

    • EA

mostly for underperforming…he probably would have been given one more year but bounced before next year’s impending doom…Missouri should be better than what they are right now…that place has potential to be a good bball school…Greg Marshall should get a call.
