The timing doesn’t look great for the Cats. Earlier this week, Mayo visited West Virginia, whose staff also includes former Kentucky assistant Chad Scott, now the Mountaineers’ co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach:

Mayo visited Kentucky back in April, telling 247 Sports he enjoyed Keeneland and getting to know defensive coordinator Brad White:
“My relationship with Kentucky has definitely gotten better because my communication with the coaches has been great. I’ve gotten to know (Brad White) more on a more personal level. He is a really nice guy. He is really homey as a person. He knows how to make you feel welcome, which is really nice. He is the guy that offered me and it was a good time getting to know him more personally.”
