If you thought Jarren Williams had a tough time making decisions, let me introduce you to Kamar Wilcoxson.
A four-star recruit that attends IMG Academy in Florida, Wilcoxson is considered one of the 250 best football players in America. This afternoon he announced on Twitter that he has committed to the Florida Gators. The decision looks like most you’ve seen on social media.

What makes this one different? It’s become a sort of routine for the young athlete. Today was the fourth time Wilcoxson has made a public commitment and the third time he’s committed to the Gators. How does that work you ask? Let me show you a brief timeline.
- Commitment #1: Nov. 3, 2018 on an unofficial visit to Florida
- Decommitment #1: April 27, 2019
- Commitment #2: July 27, 2019 on an unofficial visit to Florida
- Decommitment #2: March 26, 2019
- Commitment #3: April 27, 2020 to Tennessee
- Commitment #4: June 19, 2020 to Florida
The player essentially got swooped up in the hoopla when he made early unofficial visits. The commitments to drew in other schools — like USC, Ohio State, Kentucky and Tennessee — yet Florida’s coaching staff was relentless and accepting of the wavering commitment, ultimately accepting the four-star prospect into their 2021 recruiting class after a chaotic dance for more than two years.
Football recruiting can be a beautiful disaster.
