Since Bolden’s recruitment entered the spotlight, unlike many, I’ve remained patient. After all, Cal has already signed five five-star players and sometimes you gotta let kids be kids. ‘Let him take his time,’ I told myself.
That changed on Monday.
To give fans hope that there was a light at the end of the tunnel, only to once again yank out the carpet from underneath their feet, it’s frustrating. But before you start Tweeting hate to a teenager, here are four reasons why you should remain patient:
- Eric Bledsoe
- John Wall
- Terrence Jones
- Jamal Murray
All four of those players picked Kentucky after the Kentucky Derby. Bledsoe picked UK on May 9, ten days before he was joined by John Wall, the coolest Wildcat that most of the people reading this can ever remember wearing blue and white.
May 19 is also the same day that Terrence Jones officially entered the BBN. It’s the same date Bolden will decide. What makes the two different? The Real T. Jones actually picked Washington first, only to change his mind a few days later. Even though it might’ve seemed a little sketchy at the time, I don’t think anyone was still upset after he won SEC Freshman of the Year and a National Championship.
Last but not least, Jamal Murray made his decision not even a year ago, taking off his Canadian Cape to reveal a Kentucky tie on June 24, 2015. He spent this season breaking UK’s freshman scoring record, no big deal.
I know that you might be frustrated tonight, but if you take Aristotle’s advice, Thursday has extraordinary potential. “Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet.”
