Former UK women’s soccer player leaves game after collision, is okay

Former Kentucky women’s soccer player Arin Gilliland left her Chicago Red Stars’ game after a scary collision with a Seattle Reign FC player on Saturday.

Gilliland was immediately taken to the hospital for further evaluations. All test came back negative.

The Chicago Red Stars released a statement on her injury:

During the Red Stars home game on Saturday, July 14, Arin Gilliland left the match in the 38th minute and was immediately transferred by ambulance to the local hospital for evaluation of a cervical spine injury. Following the tests, all x-rays came back normal.

At this time, she is currently resting and will be reevaluated by a team doctor.

    Terrible, terrible collision….so bad that the camera just kept following the ball…..I guess they couldn’t stand the on-field carnage. I mean really, as a kid playing backyard sports, I’d take 3 or 4 collisions worse than that every weekend.
