Of the 10 SEC coaches who this is not their first year with their team, only 2 of them had losing records their first year (Pinkel with Missouri, which wasn’t SEC at the time, and Dan Mullen had losing records). Phil Steele predicted Texas A&M and Ole Miss to finish 6th and 7th last year in the SEC West, both had new coaches, and both went on to finish 3rd and 5th in the West. I think we could be this year’s Ole Miss… they were 5-6 heading into last season’s Egg Bowl against Mississippi State and won to become bowl eligible. I think we will be 5-6 going into the last game against Tennessee, but it’s hard for me to pick UK over UT since we’re 1-24 in my life against UT. Although I can’t think of a better way for this season to end if Stoops gets a win against the Vols in his first try to qualify for a bowl game! My prediction for the Cats is 5-7.

When I was in NYC in June, we were at Zuccotti Park waiting to go to the 9-11 Memorial. While waiting, a group of naked bike riders came by trying to draw attention to the environment. They kept chanting “Less Gas, More, A$$”. Apparently it was somehow legal, since they had a police escort. I’m not talking just topless either. I’m talking dudes with it all hanging out and a few women completely nude.

Very telling on Vandy this weekend. They lost 4 players this offseason on top of their senior QB and their running back from last season. If we look good and they look bad this weekend, that’s a toss up game later on this year…. Tennessee may be starting a Freshmen QB as well. And Mizzou. There is you 6 wins. Of course it all starts this Saturday night, if we look good.

WKU went 2-5 in their last 7 games which included a 8 point win over a 3-9 FIU team and 1 point win over a 4-8 North Texas Team
WKU beat one team all year with a winning record (Arkansas State)
WKU lost their entire defensive line
WKU signed 9 offensive linemen this recruiting class due to lack of depth and replacing two starters on the line
WKU lost to a 3-9 Florida Atlantic Team
During Bobby Petrino’s time at Louisville his QB’s were Stefan LeFors, Brian Brohm & Hunter Cantwell. (All played in the NFL)
Bobby Petrino took over a 8-5 Arkansas team and went 5-7 in his first season at Arkansas with a senior QB Casey Dick(Did not play in the NFL). The following years Bobby Petrino had Ryan Mallet & Tyler Wilson both who made NFL rosters. The only time he did not have a NFL talent QB he had a losing record.
WKU’s QB Brandon Doughty this year has only attempted 25 passes in his career.
WKU returns 13 starters (6 offense, 7 defense) same as UK
The three most dynamic players for UK did not play against WKU in 2012 (Z. Smith, R. Sanders, J. Whitlow)
Antonio Andrews average per carry(3.7) against UK was the second lowest all season
UK punted only 2 times against WKU in 2012 and have 4 TO’s

The WKU arrogance is a total mystery to me. Last year UK was unlucky to lose by a single point to a team they beat in first downs (28-21) and total yards (373-323) even though their time of possession was 23:53 to 36:07. Oh, and Max Smith (no longer our QB) threw 4 interceptions. A flat UK team (and a poorly coached one) allowed WKU to jump out to a surprising 17-0 lead. Then UK buckled down and outscored them 31-15. Regardless, all of that was last year, including WKU’s lucky, trick play 1-point win. Saturday night UK will destroy WKU and then we can bury all this ridiculous nonsense for good.

Our biggest game changer will be the switch from the 3-4 defense to the 4-3 defense. Our best position is our d-line and they will now be responsible for stopping the run instead of the linebackers. Moving Bud to the defensive end position will allow him to rush the passer and the linebackers can drop back and help in the coverage. This will help shut down the run and force them to pass.
