crying, can’t do simple car maintenance, barely knows how to use a hammer. matt gives us more and more reasons why he should not own a man card every day.

I would add to your list, but I pledged to not criticize Matt for a week since I missed him so much.

i wouldn’t call that criticism. more like the playful jabs i’d give a close friend just to let him know he’s human lol

Yeah. One of my favorite things is to snark on him, like you said, in the sense that I would with someone I actually know.

Idiocy like the guys talking about haircuts and Ryan “gelling his head” is why I love KSR.

      Matt is a Gen-Xer, but he’s really a proto-Millennial.

When his hair turns white, Ryan will look like Christopher Lloyd in “Back to the Future”.

I was trying to think of previous players that reclassified, and how they performed yesterday. Karl is one, isn’t he? I know there are others, I just can’t think of them.

I think i reclassified in high school , stayed in the same grade for 2 years. No really i don’t know what that means or how it works.

If you stayed in one grade for 2 years, and then skipped a later grade, you reclassified. 🙂

U of L had waaaayyyy too much control over the YUM Center when they didn’t pay to build it, not to mention they got waaaayyyy too much of the YUM Center’s revenue for concerts and things that had absolutely nothing to do with U of L.

    • secrick
      10:43 am August 1, 2017 Permalink

I think they got waaaaaaayyyy to many wins in Basketball and some one should do something about it.

    • J-Dub421
      10:47 am August 1, 2017 Permalink

That is likely to happen. But they never should have been getting 88% of revenue from concerts, etc. That’s the lion’s share of revenue from an event they have nothing to do with, and no other university anywhere in the country has a similar deal.

While you guys were enjoying Matt’s jubilant return yesterday, I was in the last place I wanted to be – the office at Norton Cancer Institute. Unfortunately my dad got the news that we did NOT want – he had a glioblastoma – the same thing John McCain has. It is the most aggressive brain tumor that you can get. We are spending the next week mulling over the decision on whether to do chemo & radiation, possibly some other form of treatment, or just let nature take its course and try to maximize the time we have left with him. Needless to say, I did not get much sleep last night. Realme, I saw your mention of me on yesterday’s thread, and your thoughts are appreciated. Tough times have come a knockin’, but with the Lord’s grace we will get through it.

Dad will be 89 in November. I have been blessed to have him and my mom in my life for this long, but it’s still tough. The hardest part is the thought of watching someone you love struggling with things we take for granted, and dealing with the anxiety of what is coming. We should all be so lucky as to just slip away in our sleep.

My parents are mid and upper seventies, and my in-laws a little younger. They’ve both been losing siblings a lot, and it forces one to think about how time could be shorter than we realize. Whatever happens, you get to be there for him, and get as many life stories out of him / your mom as you can.

Listening to JL talking about his weight and morbidity reminds me of my BOL. He has been getting bigger and bigger through the years, and when I see him I worry about him. His wife is an RN so you would have to think that she has talked to him about the dangers of his condition.

    • Realme
      11:33 am August 1, 2017 Permalink

I imagine his wife is dealing with the reality that one cannot make someone else decide to change. Be it food, drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, until someone wants to change for themselves, there’s not a lot loved ones can do, unfortunately.

And now she has health issues herself – she is dealing with breast cancer. Just started taking Taxol this week. I’m just full of cheery news, ain’t I? 🙂 Good news is that I think she has a very good prognosis.

If they caught the breast cancer early, it’s very treatable with a good survivorship rate.

Thanks RM. I have been through tough times before, so I know there is light on the other side of it. 2003/2004 was not a good time for us either, but good times were still there afterward. The Bible says “This too shall pass”. That applies to good times as well as bad.

Gotta love a good “Matt did something stupid in a foreign country” story. A normal person would have stayed on the main streets to get back to their hotel as opposed to trying to cut through a forest with darkness rapidly approaching when in a foreign country where they don’t even speak the language.
