Five top 15 recruits remain in the 2015 class

With Stephen Zimmerman’s commitment to UNLV late last night, only five players remain in the top 15 of the 247 Composite rankings for the 2015 class. (That’s one-third of them, if my math is correct.)

This visual shows you who’s left and who went where from the top 25:

Land any of those five remaining players and Kentucky will be just fine. Miss out and Kentucky will still be fine, but it sure would be nice to add at least one more.

Do work, Calipari. The upcoming weeks are your Super Bowl.

Jaylen Brown is legit. If we land that dude, we would be in a much better position next year. He’d definitely start at the 3 right away. UK makes much more sense than UCLA, too.

He is strong but dude can’t shoot outside of 5 feet from hoop. Could help down low and be physical on the boards. Not bashing as he is 3rd on my wish list of high school players coming to UK. 1. Newman 1A. Diallo 3. Brown…Seems like most think we get none of them but we have 3 great ones already coming, return Ulis, Poythress and Lee all with some experience. Add transfers in C Thorne and SG Mulder and we will be fine without any more high school kids, just want them to keep the team more talented and deeper.

some of these guys have a strong business/brand side to what they’re doing … some saying Brown is only going to go somewhere he can where Adidas shoes … working on a one and done college career, nba contract and endorsements in the near future … I like that Cal is going to see Ingram, he’s not as strong, but I think he has a much better jumper

      Just my take on it:

I think its funny when, for instance, Cards fans use the line that “Nike funnels players to UK”, etc. You know, like John Wall, who immediately signed with Reebok, and then switched to Adidas. And Nerlens Noel, who currently has a contract with Reebok (last I heard anyway). AD has yet to have a signature shoe line – which of course will change – but he may go with another brand – maybe even Peak or Li-Ning. There was no absurd Nike contract waiting for him on the table when he got drafted.

And Cards fans like to crow about how awesome they are because of how big and important their Adidas contract is, yet they aren’t getting the “Adidas kids” (Shabbazz, Wiggins, Jaylen Brown, etc) funneled their way. You’d think, if Adidas invested that much into their program, they’d give them some kids to show for it, right? Do shoe companies have am influence of kids? Of course. I wouldn’t want to wear UA or Adidas myself, just because they’re ugly as hell. But to think they are distributing these kids to the school THEY see fit is pretty ridiculous.

People keep saying that Kentucky is gonna be fine next year if we don’t land any of these guys. I may be missing something and hope I am but we lost 90 percent of our scorers. The players we currently have excluding Tyler Ulis aren’t big time scorers and he’s not someone puts up big numbers on the offensive end. We need some BIG TIME SCORERS!!! Poythress, Lee, Willis, Hawkins, aren’t players that put big numbers up and aren’t a threat of scoring. Not sure about Skal or Briscoe!! So unless we land some of these guys we’re not gonna be in the running for a National Championship!! And the kid Cal is looking at from the Juco ranks and the kid from Charlotte I don’t see them making a big impact. Big difference in UK talent and Charlotte and the Juco ranks!!

If this makes you feel any better:

Briscoe is the definition of a scorer – and just so happens to be a good distributor. Skal is already projected as the #1 pick in ’16. Getting comparisons to AD. Matthews is better than advertised. He’ll surprise some people – a la Booker/Lyles this year.

      Relax. Cal’s got this.

Agree a lot with Big Board’s take.
However we need the depth in case of injury/foul trouble etc. Skal is really good but not strong. Love the games of Briscoe and Matthews is way better than #56 or whatever they rank him, would rather have him the that Trier guy goin to Zona or Blakeney goin to LSU but both rated much higher. Also Ulis can score and when he plays more we will see that. Has a nice shot and can get to lane for a floater and gets to rim as well. Hope Poythress can add some points as well.

But I keep hearing Charles Mathews is better that what he’s ranked so hopefully that’s true. Go Big Blue!!
