Kentucky is seeking the services of a five-star All-American defensive lineman. In just over two weeks the Wildcats will find out if they’ve won the recruiting sweepstakes.
Damon Payne announced Friday afternoon that he will reveal his college decision Sunday, July 26. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, Payne is the No. 1 defensive tackle in America. Of Payne’s ten finalists, Kentucky is perceived to be near the top of his list alongside Alabama, USC and Arizona State.
Hailing from Belleville, MI, Payne is the latest big-name recruiting target for UK defensive backs coach Steve Clinkscale. In the last recruiting class, Coach Clink successfully picked up the signature from the highest-ranked recruit in program history, Justin Rogers. If Payne joins the fold, he would be the fourth blue chip recruit from Michigan to commit to Kentucky in the last three years.
