John Calipari has picked up his first commitment in the 2020 recruiting class.
Evan Daniels reports five-star guard Brandon Boston Jr. committed to Kentucky while completing his official visit in Lexington. Boston is the No. 10 player overall and the second-ranked shooting guard in the 2020 class.
“I appreciated everybody recruiting me, but I’m going to Kentucky and I picked them because I think it’s what best fits me,” Boston said.
Boston picked UK over Duke, Auburn and Florida, thanks to his relationship with UK’s coaches “They said I could showcase my whole game and get better.” He added, “They are really good coaches. They are good to talk to. They have a lot of information that I need.”
In 18 games on Nike EYBL circuit Boston averaged 22.8 points (52.1 FG%), 8.1 rebounds and 3.2 assists a game. Boston initially planned on waiting a few more weeks to commit, but the visit went so well, he pulled the trigger before leaving Lexington.
Kentucky’s Twitter account celebrated accordingly.
