Now THAT is how you respond.
They’ve been doing it all year, but the No. 18 UK Hoops squad hadn’t faced adversity quite like this. After a disastrous loss to Arkansas seven days ago, the Wildcats dismantled the No. 6 Mississippi State Bulldogs by a final score of 73-62 inside Memorial Coliseum on Sunday afternoon.
Behind a 26-point, 10-rebound double-double outing from star sophomore Rhyne Howard in just her second game back from injury, Kentucky was in control for the majority of the evening, leading by as many as 20 points in the second half.
Jaida Roper and Chasity Patterson were the two other ‘Cats to finish in double-figures. Roper added 14 points, eight of them coming in the fourth quarter, to go along with five assists while Patterson contributed 15 points and three dimes.
Kentucky shot 43.5 percent from the floor and iced the game away with free throws. On the night, the ‘Cat made 13 of its 16 attempts from the charity stripe and were a perfect 6-6 in the final period. UK held MSU to just 38.5 percent clip from the floor and force them into 17 turnovers. Kentucky was outrebounded by just one, 36-35.
I’ll be back shortly with a full game recap, in the meantime, entertain yourself with the final box score.
