It wasn’t a pretty start for the No. 11 Kentucky Wildcats, but they recovered in the second half to blowout the No. 12 Texas A&M Aggies 76-54 inside Memorial Coliseum on Thursday evening.
While the Aggies were without their star player and the SEC Preseason Player of the Year, Chennedy Carter, the ‘Cats caught fire from deep as the game went along and earned their fourth straight win in the process.
Rhyne Howard led the way for Kentucky, posting 24 points, 11 rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal with just a single turnover. She sat out nine minutes in the second quarter due to foul trouble, but a collective team effort allowed the ‘Cats to continue extending the lead anyways.
Blair Green followed up her 1-11 shooting performance agaisnt Florida with her best game of the season, scoring 13 points on 5-8 shooting from the floor. Senior Sabrina Haines dropped 15 points and also shot 5-8 from the field.
Kentucky was 49.1 from the field and shot 11-25 from deep. Despite a size disadvantage, the ‘Cats outrebounded the Aggies, 33-29 and won the turnover battle, 11-14.
