The No. 15 Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team earned a clutch win over the Alabama Crimson Tide on Thursday night in Memorial Coliseum by a final score of 66-62.

The ‘Cats were led by 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists from senior Sabrina Haines, who shot 5-13 from the floor.

Alabama was able to keep the game close despite holding Kentucky to just 37.7 percent shooting on the evening. The Crimson Tide turned the ball over 17 times, which were converted into 21 points for the ‘Cats.

Kentucky did a great job of controlling the rebounding advantage until the fourth quarter, ultimately losing 40-35, but UK did secure 12 offensive rebounds.

Jaida Roper finished with 10 points, four rebounds, and five assists while Chasity Patterson added 11 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

I’ll be back shortly with a full game recap.

“Alabama was able to keep the game close despite holding Kentucky to just 37.7 percent shooting on the evening.”

It would seem this was the reason it was held close, not despite of.

Not to nitpick, but isn’t easier to type Lady Wildcats instead of Wildcats Women’s basketball? Seems like we used to see lady cats a lot more often.
