FINAL: UK Hoops Blown Out in SEC Opener by No. 4 South Carolina, 99-72

The SEC opener for the No. 13 Kentucky Wildcats did not go as planned.

Visiting No. 4 South Carolina on the road, the Wildcats were overwhelmed by the Gamecocks throughout the entire night, who established an early lead that they never relinquished before winning by a final score of 99-72.

Kentucky was led by 28 points from sophomore Rhyne Howard and another 15 from Chasity Patterson in only her second game as a Wildcat. But a dominating performance from the Carolina bigs in the paint and on the glass proved to be the difference from the opening tip.

The ‘Cats next game will be back in Lexington as they play host to a ranked Tennessee team and try to forget about Thursday night’s ugly loss. Check out the full box score below and I’ll be back with a full recap shortly.
